DETOUR DESIGNS INC. was created to support marginalized artisan women in developing countries, as well as provide funding and awareness projects for our giving partners that help women and children in Newfoundland and Labrador as well as abroad.
DETOUR DESIGNS INC. is founded on the principles of equality and awareness. From dreams that were created from months of travel, inspiration, and a special love and appreciation for Bolivia, founder, Samantha Hull, found a special connection with a woman of La Paz, named Ivis. Upon meeting Ivis in her shop no bigger than 5x5 on a busy tourist street, an immediate connection was made. Her kind, gentle nature was an immediate invitation for a lifelong friendship and partnership.
DETOUR DESIGNS INC. strives to be a business that finds balance between profits and giving. Detour Designs donates a portion of its proceeds to non-profit organizations that need financial support to continue changing lives of the less fotunate in a positive and meaningful way. In 2013 we used 30% of our profits to sponsor two families who were spending Christmas at the Transition House in Corner Brook, NL. Two mothers, each with four children, passed along their Christmas wish lists, and we are proud to say, we were able to provide these families with everything on their lists.
